Porto Cristo Holidays

Situated on the east coast of Majorca, the resort of Porto Cristo is 40 miles, (65 kilometres) east of Palma. Porto Cristo, or "The Port of Christ", is a traditional Majorcan fishing village and manages to retain much of its original charm. The resort is renowned for its natural harbour, which along with Porto Colom is one of the biggest on Majorca's east coast.

Holidays in Porto Colom centred round the harbour, with its good selection of mid-range hotels and self-catering apartments. The beach is protected from the elements and is perfect for swimming. Visitors can while away the hours on the beach or take a boat trip along the pretty coast. Nearby excursions include the Caves of Drach, which date back to the fourth century, and the Caves of Hams, discovered in 1907. There is also a market held every Sunday morning in the Passeig de la Sirena.

Evenings in Porto Cristo are a relatively quiet affair, but there is a good selection of bars and restaurants lining the harbour and beach. Those after a more lively night can jump in a taxi and head to the neighbouring resort of Cala Millor. Porto Cristo is particularly popular with families and middle-aged couples.
